We Must Act

With the current system, Congress, through the mechanism of the Federal Reserve, can spend all the money it wants without even taxing you. They are taking your money through a hidden tax and you don't even know it!

This means Congress has no incentive to initiate this effort from within. However, a grass roots effort like this one can be successful. It takes is 2/3 of State Legislatures to propose an amendment and 3/4 to pass it. This is a reasonable proposition because everyone will support it except Congress and large international banking entities. Citizens will support it because they will stop being robbed. States will support it because they cannot print money. The hidden tax hurts them as much as citizens and they lose no rights with this amendment. They only gain benefits. Even small banks will support it because they may or may not be bailed out at the whim of Congress.

Founding fathers Hamilton and Madison (opposite sides of the aisle) believed that the state legislatures were the people's best hope for control against the federal government gaining excessive power.

Hamilton said, "... the state legislatures, who will always be not only vigilant, but suspicious and jealous guardians of the rights of the citizens against encroachments from the federal government, will constantly have their attention awake to the conduct of the national government, and will be ready enough, if anything improper appears, to sound the alarm to the people, and not only to be the voice but if necessary the ARM of discontent."

Madison, too, said that security would lie in the state legislatures, which would "jealously and closely" resist every assumption of power more effectively than any power on earth could do. The state legislatures were, in his opinion, "sure guardians of the people's liberty."

It is time for these united states to use the advantage given to them by the Constitution. It is time for them to speak with their authority and limit the power of the federal government to beat us all with the fist of our own wallets.
